Bright Morning Star's Story

We've loved every minute of our journey

Our First Endeavor

December 1997

It all began with the first New Believer's Class in San Antonio, Texas, in 1997. In one year, over 50 people attended. Many accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, others strengthened their relationship with God, and several even accepted their calls to the ministry; as preachers, pastors, missionaries, bible study teachers, and Sunday school teachers. Awesome!

A Ministry is Born

We participated in several bible study classes that included Experiencing God and Discovering our Spiritual Gifts. We began leading the Experiencing God bible study, getting involved in Sunday School, the Choir, and Vacation Bible School. The excitement continued to grow! And the ministry began to grow in our hearts.

Good Times

November 1998

At this time, we believed that the Lord was leading us to start a church. We all did not have all the answers, but we loved the Lord. We were excited to see what He was going to do! God started preparing us for His work. So off to school we go! First, we received our Bachelors degrees. Then a seminary degree for Willie (Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry) and for Anita, a Social Work degree (Licensed Master of Social Work). We continued moving towards the mark of the high calling of God for our lives.

Women's Conference

November 2004

Our first Women's Conference brought many in the community together for the event. In a beautiful downtown area of San Antonio, we embarked on an endeavor that the Lord would use to establish Excel Ministries Progressive Women's Center. A ministry through BMSCC that would help support and counsel not only battered women, but to support the City's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) until May 2013.

One on One Support

In our women's ministry, we prayed to offer our support to women wherever it was needed; one woman at a time. Women at the Well, Family Assistance Crisis Team, Women's Center @ OLLU, UTHSC, and other agencies throughout the surrounding San Antonio area from 2001 to 2013 (BMSCC).

Women's Conference Founder

October 2004

The Children's October Fest gave parents a safe and enjoyable place to share in the activities with their children. Many games, sports activities and lots of food was the theme on this day (BMSCC).

A Foundational Belief

We're glad to announce to you the birth of the ministry in the DFW area, called Bright Morning Star Ministries(BMSM). This ministry is a transplant from San Antonio, Texas when it was called Bright Morning Star Christian Center (BMSCC). Our beliefs are still absolute; we believe in Jesus Christ and Him crucified for the remission of our sins. Our hope and BMSM's name are based on:

Our Vision and Mission also remain the same and they state...

Vision: We endeavor to embrace a multi-cultural expression of God's grace.

Mission: Heralding the Good News of Jesus Christ by way of Prayer, Fellowship, Education and Discipleship in order to grow and bear fruit.

Revelation 22:16-17. Which reads..."I, Jesus, have sent my angels to give you this testimony for the churches, I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright and Morning Star. The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' And let him who hears say 'Come!' Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life".

Our Faith

...This is what I will do in the last days, God says: I will pour out my Spirit on everyone. Your sons and daughters will proclaim my message; your young men will see visions and your old men will have dreams. Yes, even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will proclaim my message...And then whoever calls out to the Lord for help will be saved."

Acts 2:17-21 (GNB)
